The Souths Logan Magpies celebrated a strong season that saw them just miss out on a place in this year’s finals series at their recent awards night.

Held on Friday, September 23 at their leagues club, the best of their FOGS Colts Challenge and Intrust Super Cup players were honoured at the event, with versatile forward Joe Boyce claiming the Pat Phelan Memorial award for club player of the year.

*Beecher Larkin Memorial: Cameron Booth
**Mick Crocker Memorial: Joe Boyce
Montgomery Lister (Club Person of the Year): Mick Tierney
Pat Phelan Memorial (Club Player of the Year): Joe Boyce

*Beecher Larkin award: In memory of Beecher Larkin –  a life member, founding member of Brisbane Junior RL, founding member of Souths Juniors in 1951. Groundsman at Davies 1950s until the late 1970s. This trophy epitomises the Beecher spirit; a person who goes about their job without fuss, but always gets the job done.

**Mick Crocker award: Mick Crocker grew up in West End and was struck with polio at a very young age. Mick was told that he would never play sport. However, against all odds he went on to represent Souths, Parramatta, Queensland and Australia and was selected in the Souths team of the Century. One of Souths true legends. This award recognises greatness and a strong passion for the game against all odds.
