Registrations are now open for the revamped 2017 QRL Leadership Conference, which aims to engage with female participants and provide support for the game’s volunteer network.

Formerly known as the QRL Admin Conference, the event is expected to bring more than 400 participants to the Novotel Twin Waters Resort on the Sunshine Coast from February 10-12.

“This is an event that will interest everyone associated with grassroots sport,” QRL Managing Director Robert Moore said today.

“It provides club and local league administrators, coaches and volunteers with cutting-edge lectures, workshops, sport education material and important resources.”

The Conference will bring together an outstanding group of speakers, presenters and tradeshow exhibitors.

Fresh from the success of the inaugural Women’s Leadership Seminar nearly two years ago, this immensely popular component of the Conference will return bigger and better in February next year.

Esteemed speakers including Rebecca Frizelle (Chair – Gold Coast Titans), Raelene Castle (CEO – Canterbury Bulldogs), Kylie Blucher (Managing Director – Channel 9 Queensland) and Anita Palm (Head of Sport GC Commonwealth Games) headlined the 2015 event.

4KQ Radio personality Laurel Edwards will host the Women’s Seminar on the opening day of the Conference, with the speakers to be announced in upcoming weeks.

The event aims to generate healthy discussion in line with the QRL’s ambition to elevate the participation of women in positions of leadership within all sports.

With a focus on female administrators and volunteers from sporting clubs and associations, this seminar will work to build confidence, resilience and provide practical tools to heighten the capacity to influence change in a male dominated area.

The 2017 QRL Leadership Conference will also support RizeUp Australia, which is a community-driven organisation dedicated to supporting the many women and families affected by domestic and family violence.

There will be a light-hearted element to the Conference as well, with the Walters brothers and Allan Langer all set to entertain guests at the Saturday evening dinner.

Maroons great Mark Coyne, Olympian Natalie Cook OAM and former Lions AFL star Alastair  Lynch are confirmed keynote speakers across the weekend.

Topics to be covered throughout the Conference include Strategic Planning, Volunteer and Player Retention, Diversity, Grants / Business Planning, Social Media and Mental Health.
