After three days of exciting rugby league involving more 700 participants aged 12-16 the Mendi Group Northern Division Junior Marlins teams have been announced.
From this carnival four teams were selected in Under 14 and Under 16 boys and girls to represent the QRL Northern Division at the State Junior Championships at Kawana on the Sunshine Coast in two weeks time. The partnership between the QRL Northern Division and the Mendi Group will see the children attend the carnival at a greatly reduced cost.
An Under 15 merit team and a 36-player Under 13 development squad were also selected. These Under 13 players will attend a three-day camp at James Cook University in two-week.
There is a great cross section of players selected in the teams with a number of Northern Territory girls selected along with a small group of players from the Outback, Cape, Torres Strait Islands and Innisfail/Eacham regions. A majority of the players selected were from the three major regional centres – Mackay, Cairns and Townsville.
