Intrust Super will ramp up its support of the game by partnering with the Queensland Maroons for the next five years, the QRL announced today.
Intrust Super has long been the naming rights sponsor of Queensland’s premier statewide competition – the Intrust Super Cup.
As a show of confidence in the established relationship, the Platinum-rated 100% Industry Super Fund is extending its sponsorship in an agreement that will see the competition reach its 14th season as the Intrust Super Cup.
And in a further boost for the state’s renowned participation pathways, Intrust Super will now back the state’s flagship team as a Maroons Partner for five years, including the front-of-jersey sponsor for next year.
Intrust Super CEO Brendan O’Farrell said the new Maroons’ partnership was a natural progression given his organisation’s strong ties to the state’s player development pathways.
“Intrust Super Cup is widely regarded as one of the highest performing competitions globally, being the breeding ground for many State of Origin superstars,” Mr O’Farrell said.
“The Queensland Maroons have consistently proven themselves to be one of the best performing sports teams in the world, having dominated their field for over a decade.
“Consistent performance is critical in the world of superannuation, and as a 12-year Platinum rated fund, we found it fitting to extend our partnership to the Queensland Maroons.”
QRL Managing Director Robert Moore expressed his gratitude to Intrust Super for taking their support of the game to a new level.
“Many of us have seen first-hand just how passionate Brendan O’Farrell and his team are about the clubs and local communities involved in the Intrust Super Cup,” Moore said.
“I’m sure this passion will well and truly carry over into their support of our flagship team, the Queensland Maroons.
“In recent years, we’ve seen promising young players like Michael Morgan, Tim Glasby and Cameron Munster progress from the Intrust Super Cup to the State of Origin arena.
“Now Intrust Super are following that exact same pathway themselves and we’re absolutely thrilled to welcome them into the Origin fold.”
