Burleigh Bears gains and losses

NRL-experienced forward Blake Leary headlines the list of gains for the 2018 season for the Burleigh Bears, with the former Gold Coast junior returning to the city to link up with the 2016 premiers.

Leary, who captained the XXXX Queensland Residents to victory in the annual representative clash earlier this year will be called on to provide leadership to a side that will farewell a number of key contributors to the club including former skipper Daniel Griffiths and Waka Wanahi.

Halfback Daniel Schwass has also retired from playing, but will still be involved with the game and will pursue a career as a referee.

Gains: Blake Leary (Townsville Blackhawks), Justin Tavae (CQ Capras), Matt Robinson (France), Francis Fifita (Souths Logan Magpies), Jerome VeVe (Tweed Heads), Zae Wallace (Titans NYC), Josh Berkers (Coogee Dolphins), Kaleb Fauimoana (Cowboys NYC)

Losses: Connor Broadhurst (Capras), Darren Griffiths (retired), Waka Wanahi (retired), Dan Schwass (referee), Daymeric Pelo (Runaway Bay), Keanu Te Kiri (released)

Where they finished in 2017:  9th
