The Rockhampton and District Junior Rugby League (RDJRL) are inviting all Under 14 teams to nominate for the upcoming headspace Nines Charity Shield.
Nominations for the carnival close tomorrow, which will be held at Victoria Park, Rockhampton on Friday, April 6 and Saturday, April 7.
Former Queensland State of Origin Player PJ Marsh (who works with headspace in Rockhampton) can’t wait for the upcoming carnival after last year’s event had to be cancelled due to the Rockhampton floods.
headspace will again be present at both days of the carnival to offer any advice to players, coaching staff and supporters.
The 2016 event proved that having a strong message and having headspace attend can help our game’s younger players.
The 2018 carnival will again be played across two days, with all pool games played on the Saturday.
The carnival is open to all registered Under 14 teams in Queensland and NSW with games comprising nine (9) players a side over two nine-minute halves.
At the end of Day 1, teams will be ranked with the top two sides playing for the Headspace Charity Shield. The organisers will endeavour to have all sides play a final (dependant on team numbers).
The carnival also brings in former local NRL players, with Jamie Simpson (South Sydney), Justin Loomans (Cowboys / Souths) and David Faiumu (Cowboys) joining Marsh at this year's event.
Nominations close tomorrow. Click the below link to view the nomination form.
