Surprise! Walters names 18th man
Queensland Maroons coach Kevin Walters has defied expectations in naming his 18th man for Game I of the Holden State of Origin series.
After today calling in six extra players to assist team training, Walters has opted for Melbourne Storm forward Tim Glasby to be the official 18th man at the Melbourne Cricket Ground next Wednesday, June 6.
Glasby played two games for the Maroons last year, helping them to secure the series.
The Rockhampton junior has played 96 NRL games, all for Melbourne, after earlier learning his trade with the Central Queensland Capras and Easts Tigers in the Intrust Super Cup.
Glasby will join the team when they travel to Melbourne on Monday and will complete the final training run alongside the Maroons on Tuesday, as well as be on standby for game night.
Dale Copley, Brenko Lee, Moses Mbye, Anthony Milford, Joe Ofahengaue and Jaydn Su'A are the ther extra players who have been training with the squad to assist preparation and enhance their development.
