Harvey Norman Women's National Championships - Day 1 results

There was a good crowd on hand to see Day 1 of the Women’s Rugby League with all six teams featuring in an action-packed opening to the tournament.

NSW City got their campaign off to a good start with a solid win over Combined Affiliated States; while Queensland City survived an early scare from the Australian Defence Force team, with their impressive winger Julia Robinson running in for an amazing try, her first of many for the day.

Queensland touch team the (Chelsea) Baker Breakers faced off against New Souths Wales team the (Maddie) Studdon Stars in an exhibition match; while the afternoon saw the CAS team in action again in a tough match against Queensland Country, featuring a number of Jillaroos stars like Brittany Breayley and Steph Hancock.

More Jillaroos were in action in the day’s final game, with stars including Nakia Davis-Walsh and Kezie Apps featuring for NSW Country against ADF. Apps scored a hat-trick in Country’s big win over the Defence Force team who can hold their heads high after playing in two tough games against high-quality opponents.
