Clubs to RizeUp this weekend

Clubs and leagues across the state are set to #RizeUp this weekend in support of the domestic violence charity.

In previous years, all clubs and leagues in the Central Division (Region) participated in a dedicated round supporting the charity and raised money, awareness and donated household items.

But earlier this year, it was announced the partnership had extended to both Northern and South East Queensland Divisions (Regions).

With the partnership now state-wide, this weekend sees the first RizeUp round across the state and the QRL is issuing a call to arms for all clubs and leagues to support those in need.

Central Region Wellbeing and Education manager Dave Faiumu is looking forward to clubs from Brisbane to the Cape being involved in this year's dedicated round.

"We're encouraging all the local leagues and communities to get involved," he said.

"All money raised and donations received go to victims locally across the state.

"This is the third year that the QRL has teamed with RizeUp and the response has been pretty good, with people even donating after the event."

Faiumu said there would be donation points and collection tins at all participating grounds this weekend.

People are encouraged to make a gold coin donation or give practical home supplies, such as kitchen appliances, bed sheets and laundry supplies, pantry items including long-life food items, and board games or sporting equipment for children.

Those interested in donating to the 2018 campaign should contact their local club executive or local league office.
