Current Harvey Norman Jillaroos coach, Brad Donald has extended his time with the national women’s rugby league team, after agreeing to a new three-year deal.
Mr Donald is undefeated as head coach since taking the reins back in November 2016 and was excited about the opportunity ahead, which will see him lead the team through to the end of the 2021 international season.
"Looking back on my time with the team so far, it’s been an incredible journey and one that I’m honoured to have been a part of," Mr Donald said.
"I’ve been fortunate enough to be involved in coaching several rugby league teams over the years and I can say without doubt that my time with the Jillaroos has been an absolute highlight.
"This is a team that is united on and off the field and includes some of the best role models you will ever come across.
"The Jillaroos are full of women that inspire me, they inspire my coaching staff and they inspire thousands of fans nationally and internationally.
"I’m humbled to have been given the opportunity to continue coaching the team and I look forward to helping lead the next generation of elite players to greater heights."
Mr Donald’s new tenure will see him lead the Jillaroos through to the 2021 Rugby League World Cup, o be played in England.
NRL Chief Executive, Todd Greenberg congratulated Mr Donald on his re-appointment and said he had very confidence in the Jillaroos continuing in their winning ways.
"Brad has been instrumental in delivering success within the Jillaroos since day one as head coach and I’m delighted that he has accepted the opportunity to continue leading the team," Mr Greenberg said.
"One of Brad’s best attributes is his continued delivery of honouring and including past Jillaroos players, whether as part of his coaching staff or in camps as mentors to players.
"I have no doubt that Brad will continue to deliver for our national women’s team and I look forward to watching the Jillaroos succeed well into the future."
The Harvey Norman Jillaroos will continue to play a series of international fixtures throughout 2019 – 2021, before competing in the Rugby League World Cup and aiming to create history with three consecutive World Cup title wins.
Mr Donald will continue in his role as the NRL’s Elite Programs Manager, as well as his role as the Jillaroos head coach.
