Brothers celebrate major milestone

More than 400 people attended the Brothers RLFC Townsville Centenary Dinner earlier this month to celebrate the club’s 100th year.

With many guests travelling from afar, it was a memorable evening of celebrations.

Former Townsville Brothers player and coach Steve Mitchell performed the MC duties with distinction.

Mitchell, the current CEO of the Gold Coast Titans, was joined by League Queensland magazine editor Tony Price.

Now an author of 10 rugby league books, Price has published a 300-plus page book on the club, unearthing many new stories along the way.

The book reveals how the club had its first game as Past Brothers in 1919, and not 1922, making the club three years older than previously thought.

As a result, it brought the 100 year celebrations forward to this year.

QRL Charmain Bruce Hatcher presented the club with their Centenary plaque.
