Schoolboys star Toby Sexton signs on as Gold Coast Titan

The Gold Coast Titans are pleased to welcome Australian Schoolboys star Toby Sexton to the club, with the Queensland Under-18s five-eighth formally joining the Titans on a three-year deal.

The Palm Beach Currumbin student was a member of the successful Tweed Seagulls Under-18 team that won the Mal Meninga Cup final and the National Under-18 title against Illawarra.

Sexton will link with six of his Seagulls teammates joining the Titans’ full-time NRL squad for pre-season training under new coach Justin Holbrook in November.

Titans Executive Chairman Dennis Watt said the signing of Sexton, who with play with the Australian Schoolboys in a one-off Test against New Zealand on 29 September, was a significant move for the future of the Gold Coast.

“Toby is obviously highly regarded for his playing ability, and he was on the radar of other NRL clubs, but we are delighted that he has chosen to commit to the Titans,” Watt said.

“Importantly for us, we are not only getting a quality young player, but an impressive and humble young man who is dedicated to his family, teammates and community. He brings all of the qualities that we look for in a Titan.

“Toby is as excited about the future of the Titans as we are about his, and he is determined to play his part in seeing his local team rise to the top of the NRL.

“I am sure all of our Members and fans will join me in welcoming Toby to the Club.”
