Innisfail Brothers Under 13s finish season undefeated

In Round 12 of Cairns District Junior Rugby League competition, Innisfail Brothers Under 13 team finished the regular season undefeated after they snatched victory from Cairns Brothers 34-28 on Saturday at Callendar Park.

When Cairns Brothers took a slight lead, they looked set to stage an upset and halt Innisfail's unbeaten record. However, Tureti Ryder posted two tries to keep the home side winning record intact.

Under 13 coaches, Troy Cooper and William Cunningham, said they were really proud of what the boys had achieved so far with the team having gelled well together.

Innisfail Under 13 team finished the season on top of the ladder with nine wins and one draw, and will now progress to play Edmonton Storm in the semi finals this Saturday at Jones Park in Cairns.

In a must win game, the Innisfail Under 14 side secured a semi finals berth with a 30-20 victory over Cairns Brothers and will now face Mareeba.

Edmonton Storm registered a 28-24 win over Innisfail in the Under 15 division and a dominant 30-4 victory over Innisfail in the Under 16 competition.

Non-competitive games were also played in Under 8, Under 10, Under 11 and Under 12 age groups against Edmonton, Tully and Innisfail Brothers Green, Red and Blue teams.

This was the final Super Saturday of games for the season at Callendar Park before the semi finals. 

It has been a great season for Innisfail Brothers with healthy player numbers across all age groups.

At the semi finals this Saturday at Jones Park, a gala day will be also be held for Under 6 to Under 11 teams.

On Saturday, August 31, the Under 12 Warren Pitt Cup will be played at Jones Park where Innisfail Brothers teams are expected to compete.
