Week one of finals won and done, what comes next?

Tweed Seagulls and Norths Devils have been eliminated from the Intrust Super Cup premiership race following a stunning opening to the 2019 finals series which saw all four away teams register victories.

Redcliffe kicked a 79th minute field goal to clinch a 25-24 win over Tweed, while Easts also came from behind to topple Norths 24-20.

In a remarkable Sunday afternoon of rugby league, Burleigh Bears beat Wynnum Manly 34-32 in front of the Seagulls’ parochial home fans; and fourth-placed Townsville Blackhawks upset minor premiers the Sunshine Coast Falcons 20-12.

Sunshine Coast and Wynnum Manly have now been thrust into elimination finals next weekend against Easts and Redcliffe respectively, while the Bears and Blackhawks advance to the preliminary finals in a fortnight.
