Baker superb as Capras begin season on top

The Central Queensland Capras have started their BHP Premiership season with a bang, defeating the West Brisbane Panthers 26-16 at Frank Lind Oval, Mitchelton.

Despite trailing 12-10 at the break, captain and former Harvey Norman Queensland Maroons back Chelsea Baker scored a double and used her representative experience to steer her young Capras around nicely, coming from behind to take home the two points.

In a losing side, classy rake Therese Aiton was strong in her first game for West Brisbane, scoring in the her new club colours.

The Panthers will have an opportunity to refocus when they take on age-old foes Valleys in next week's XXXX Rivalry Round.

The Capras host the Gold Stars at home.

More to come.
