Bell boots Blackhawks to win, Tigers cut down in Round 6

Michael Bell scored 17 points for the Townsville Blackhawks - including a crucial, match-winning one-point field goal - to secure his side a 29-28 victory against Redcliffe Dolphins in Round 6 of the Hostplus Cup.

Saturday's matches provided some exciting results, with Townsville coming back from an 22-12 halftime deficit against the Dolphins at Moreton Daily Stadium to launch the day's play.

The Dolphins fielded two debutants in the close loss, with centre Jack Aiken and halfback Cody Hunter, who kicked four-from-four conversions, making their first Cup appearances for the club.

In Mackay at BB Print Stadium, Mackay Cutters bounced back from a loss last weekend to post a 24-12 win against the previously undefeated Brisbane Tigers.

Winger Jake Riley crossed for two important tries, while Brandon Finnegan slotted three of his four conversion attempts and a penalty goal in the win.

In the 'flockbuster' match-up between Wynnum Manly Seagulls and Tweed Seagulls at Tugun, it was Wynnum Manly that enjoyed the hot chips, claiming a tight 38-34 win in a high-scoring affair.

Round 6 continues on Sunday, May 1, with Sunshine Coast Falcons at home to Ipswich Jets in the feature match of the round.
