Marty McFly would appreciate this week of Mal Meninga Cup as we head back to round four thanks to Cyclone Alfred.
On Thursday night the Bears will take their attacking show on the road to play the Brisbane Tigers.
The Bears are currently in fourth place and coming off a huge 62-0 win over the Central Queensland Capras.
The Bears were sensational in every facet of the game.
When they didn’t have the ball, they tackled like men possessed and when they didn’t have the ball they attacked like they had somewhere else to be on Saturday night.
It was 42-0 at half time and the Bears were never in any danger.
Bailey Trew was on the end of everything good the Bears did with two tries one inside in the first minute of play.
Trew finished with 228 metres for the Bears.
Saxon Innes was playing like the king of fullbacks with his length of the field try and work on the left and right-hand side of the field a fullback masterclass.
The Brisbane Tigers lost to the Magpies 32-10 and are currently in 9th but can cause some drama for other teams.
The Tigers were behind at half time 14-4 and just couldn’t recover.
The Tigers’ Pouakai Jackson-Williams is key to everything they do and the Tigers will be looking to him to make sure he finishes the season well.
Pouakai Jackson-Williams seven games this year has been a bright spot for the Tigers.
Souths Logan are in sixth and on the cusp of finals.
This week against the Western Clydesdales will make or break their season.
Souths Jayden Solien is a sight to behold for the Magpies and if the Magpies are to play finals, then it will be the number 13 that stars.
His two tries and constant runs at the Tigers in different position and roles showed his skill base is bottom less.
While attacking weapon Finn Kendall has scored four tries in seven games and is the Magpies strike weapon out wide.
The Western Clydesdales capitulated against the Mackay Cutters when they were up 16-6 and looking pretty. From there they lost 24-16.
Once the Cutters settled into the game they had too much strike for the Clydesdales.
Flynn Battaia scored three tries and ran the Clydesdales ragged and they couldn’t stop the Cutters centre.
Tait Cameron tried to counteract Battaia with his own starring centre game but his 146 metres wasn’t enough.
The Clydesdales have to stop the momentum once it shifts.
The Ipswich Jets and Sunshine Coast Falcons are both coming off a loss that puts a serious dent in their season.
The Jets just couldn’t get hold of Norths Devils and keep them down. Every time the Jets came back into the game the Devils pulled away.
The Jets are in seventh and on eight points but that puts them behind the Magpies, Devils and Bears.
Lachlan Coburn was again great for the Jets and shines every week for Ipswich. The Jets can score tries but to play with the big boys in finals you have to be able to keep them out and nothing highlights the Jets reluctance to defend more than Lachlan McCall’s simple dummy half try just after half time.
The Sunshine Coast can’t play finals but they want to cause some heartache for teams that can and the Jets can fall into that category.
The Falcons last round wasn’t what they wanted and they will want to right that wrong with a 52-10 loss to the Tweed Seagulls not what the Falcons were looking for last round.
By the time the Falcons scored the Tweed Seagulls had scored five times and that’s a hard mountain to climb again.
The Falcons were down two players in the sin bin and from there it becomes Mount Everest.
You just can’t beat teams down to 12 for 20 minutes and 38 percent of the ball.
Charlie Coates took plenty of hard runs to try and spark some momentum but not even his 90 metres was enough.
William Graham did lots of tackling I the middle of the field at hooker but it was too much to hold out the Tweed machine.
Norths Devils play the Redcliffe Dolphins in what is top of the list of games to watch.
The Dolphins dealt a blow to the Townsville Blackhawks with four tries in the first quarter of the game and the Blackhawks just had no answer.
The Dolphins great strength is their relentless forwards and then sitting behind that is Noah Fein who injects himself and kicks goals.
Fein has scored 10 tries this year in seven games and 98 points to lead the competition for tries and points.
The Dolphins back row is in his pocket and runs off his great passing game- this will all be fine tuned this week against the Devils before finals.
The Devils travelled to Ipswich and beat the Jets who just wouldn’t go away. It was four tries to five and the Devils showed plenty of ‘Devilsh’ qualities to keep fighting.
The Devils weapons just claim the game when an opportunity knocks, if it’s not Charlie Dickson it’s Adaquix-Jeramiah Watts-Luke and then hooking surprise packet comes into the game and scores a try and throws his weight around the engine room with brave displays.
The Devils strength is getting the ball to them right person at the right time.
