Glimpse the 2025 Maroons squad at Sunshine Coast training session

Queensland footy fans are in for a treat this weekend, with the 2025 Maroons squad set to host a special public training session at Sunshine Coast Stadium ahead of Game I of the State of Origin series.

On Sunday 25 May, the gates will open at 9:30am, with the training session running from 10:00am to 12:00pm. It’s a rare opportunity for fans to get an up-close look at their Origin heroes as they prepare for the biggest stage in rugby league.

Held at Sunshine Coast Stadium, located at 31 Sportsmans Parade, Bokarina, the session is free to attend and open to all ages. Whether you’re a diehard Maroons supporter or just love the energy of Origin footy, this is the perfect way to spend a Sunday morning with family or mates.

Notably, the Maroons will be engaging in an opposed training session against FOG, Chris Flannery’s Sunshine Coast Falcons. Watch as the two teams roll through a series of opposing drills and skills.

While it’s not an interactive session, the public will have a great vantage point to watch the team go through their paces, giving fans a behind-the-scenes feel of the squad’s preparation. Expect intensity, precision, and plenty of Queensland passion as the players fine-tune their combinations under the guidance of coach Billy Slater.

Fans are encouraged to arrive early to secure the best viewing spots in the stadium as there are limited seats, with entry via Gate 1, the stadium’s main entrance. Parking will be available via Nicklin Way carpark, the Stadium North carpark, and along Sportsmans Parade, making access easy and convenient.

This is also a great chance for locals and visitors on the Sunshine Coast to be part of the Origin buzz, show their support for the team, and build excitement ahead of Game I. With the Maroons looking to reclaim Origin glory, there’s no better time to get behind the boys in maroon.

So, chuck on your Queensland colours, bring the family, and come experience the build-up to Origin like never before. It’s free, it’s exciting, and it’s one of the best ways to get into the Origin spirit before kick-off.
