A Queensland night written in the stars

Queensland Rugby League has unveiled an all‑star guest list for Maroons Under the Stars, a premium dining and event experience to be held in Rockhampton as part of the Maroons’ commitment to Central Queensland.

Taking place on Monday, June 29, on the eve of the Queensland Maroons Westpac Fan Day, the event will see guests enjoy a long‑table dinner under the stars at Paradise Lagoons — a picturesque, working cattle property just outside Rockhampton.

Celebrating all things Maroons and Queensland, Maroons Under the Stars will pair the region’s rugged beauty with world‑class food, footy storytelling and community spirit.

Guests will be treated to a specially curated two‑course menu designed by chef Matt Golinski, complemented by a five‑hour premium drinks package showcasing the best of Queensland hospitality.

Best known as one of the original team members of the iconic television program Ready Steady Cook, Golinski has also served as executive chef at some of Queensland’s leading restaurants and remains one of the state’s most respected culinary figures.

Footy fans will be in their element, with Maroons Origin greats Darren Lockyer, Ben Ikin and Steve Price headlining a series of panel discussions across the evening, sharing stories from the Maroons’ proud past and reflecting on what it means to represent Queensland.

“Maroons Under the Stars is about more than a dinner — it’s a celebration of who we are as Queenslanders, our love for rugby league, and the communities that continue to shape the Maroons story,” Ikin said.

“Hosting this event in Rockhampton gives us the chance to bring together past players, families, fans and local community leaders in a way that feels genuinely Queensland.”

Adding a creative dimension to the night, renowned Queensland artist Nicole Slater will provide insight into her celebrated work, including the showcase of her “Leo” limited‑edition print.

Slater has generously donated the artwork, with guests invited to bid in a live auction on the night in support of the Maroons Foundation, which recently launched its new Beyond the Game campaign.

Every dollar raised through the Maroons Foundation will directly support initiatives that strengthen Queensland communities – from wellbeing and health programs to inclusive change-room facilities and First Nations pathways.

Slater’s involvement caps a significant few days for the family, with her husband — Queensland Maroons head coach Billy Slater — set to bring the Maroons to Rockhampton the following day for the annual regional Westpac Fan Day.

The Maroons Under the Stars event will also acknowledge Cameron Munster’s connection to Central Queensland, with the Maroons’ captain’s wife Bianca and mother Deborah on hand to share their insights.

Maroons Under the Stars promises to be a memorable celebration of Queensland pride, bringing together community, culture and the spirit of the Maroons in one unforgettable night.
