THE Burleigh Bears and Souths Logan Magpies will face off in the BDWRL Division 1 grand final this Sunday after posting wins in the preliminary finals last weekend.


Aspley and Carina will meet to decide the winner of Division 2, also on Sunday at Pizzey Park.


Division 1 Preliminary Finals


Burleigh Heads 16 def Beerwah 14

Souths Logan 54 def Wests Inala 4


Summary:

In the Division 1 preliminary final between Burleigh Heads and Beerwah, Beerwah scored two tries to one in the first half to lead 10-4 at the break. Burleigh scored two tries to one in the second half to win the match 16-14 with a conversion after the final siren, with both teams scoring three tries overall.


In the match between Souths Logan and Wests Inala, Souths scored seven tries to none in the first half to lead 40-0 at the break. In the second half, Souths Logan scored a further three tries to one to win the match 54-4, scoring ten tries to one overall.


In next Sundays grand final, Souths Logan will play Burleigh Heads at Pizzey Park at 3.30pm.


Division 2 Preliminary Finals


Carina 18 def Wynnum Manly Juniors 0

Aspley 30 defDeception Bay Bombers 10


Summary:

In the Division 2 preliminary final between Carina and Wynnum Juniors, Carina scored two tries to none in the first half to lead 10-0 at the break. In the second half, Carina scored a further two tries to one to win the match 18-4, scoring four tries to one overall.


In the match between Aspley and Deception Bay, Aspley scored three tries to one in each half to win the match 30-10, scoring six tries to two overall.


Aspley will play Carina in the grand final next Sunday at Pizzey Park at 1.30pm.

GRAND final day at Pizzey Park this Sunday will not only showcase the Open Womens competition across the South East, but for the first time, will also showcase the junior girls coming through in local league competitions.


Members of the victorious Jillaroos side will also show off the World Cup, giving rugby league fans the chance get up close with the trophy and a meet a few of the World Cup winning Jillaroos.


There is no gate fee, but the Cherish Foundation will be accepting donations to raise funds for the awareness of women battling cancer.

1.30pm Open Women Division 2 GF: Aspley v Carina

3.30pm Open Women Division 1 GF: Burleigh v Souths Logan
