THE Universities Rugby League Queensland has announced that respected coaches Paul Lowe and Mark Tookey will mentor the team to take on the NSW Tertiaries side in the annual clash at Suncorp Stadium on May 16.

The Queensland Universities team was announced late last month and includes a host of players with Intrust Super Cup experience.

They will play NSW Tertiaries as the curtain raiser to the Brisbane Broncos-Gold Coast Titans NRL round 10 game.

Lowe has been appointed head coach after previously doing two stints as assistant coach, in 2009 and 2010.

He has also been on the staff at Intrust Super Cup clubs Ipswich and Easts, and is currently assistant coach to Mark Gliddon at the Norths Devils.

Gliddon, who coached the Queensland Universities team in 2012 and 2013, has graduated to coach the Australian Universities team.

That national side will be chosen from this match, and is set to tour either Fiji or South Africa later this year.

Tookey, who played NRL with the Eels and Warriors, has also previously been assistant coach of the Queensland Universities team.

He also played for Queensland and Australia at University level back in 1996, winning the Student World Cup in England that year.

Meanwhile, the URLQ has been forced to make two changes to the Queensland Universities team after two withdrawals.

Northern Pride squad member Jarrod Allen and 2013 Queensland Universities Residents captain Travis Drury have been added to the squad after the withdrawals of Josh Seage and Jacob Harney.

QLD UNIVERSITIES SQUAD: Jarrod Allen, Stephen Coombe, Joshua Damen, Travis Drury, Nicholas Durante, Sam Foster, Herschel Gideon, Adam Jeffery , Zach Koitka, Jacob Ling, Saia Makisi, Jono Miliszewski , Tom Murray, Nathan Norford, Benjamin Shea, Rhys Tierney, Conner Toia, Rhett Webster.
