Rockhampton Leagues Club Capras player Liam Pickersgill has signed with the Brisbane Broncos for the remainder of 2014 and 2015.

Pickersgill, a second-rower who has worked his way through the Capras ranks, has been a player of interest for the Broncos for some time. At the end of last season Pickersgill played a series of games for the Broncos U18s development side.

Pickersgill, 19 has been on the fringe of selection for the Capras Intrust Super Cup side for most of the 2014 season. He has been named 18th man on four occasions and played his only game of the season so far in the Capras away loss to the PNG Hunters.

The Brisbane Broncos have decided to leave Pickersgill in Rockhampton with the Capras to further his development for the 2014 season before taking him down for a full pre-season and press for a spot in the U20s for 2015.

Capras Operations Manager Walson Carlos said it was a great reward for effort for Pickersgill.

“The Broncos contract is a great opportunity for Liam to take his footy to the next level by experiencing an NRL club. It shows once again that the Capras have a clear pathway for juniors to the NRL which is important.”
