THE Rockhampton Junior Rugby League are again in the planning stages for the 2015 Rhys Wesser “Dream Believe Achieve” Shield which is fast approaching.
This year is the 4th year of the carnival and we will again be holding the event during the middle weekend of the April school holidays (Friday and Saturday April 10-11).
The 9-a-side carnival for Under 14 year olds will again culminate with the finals matches being played at Browne Park before the CQ Capras v Mackay Cutters Intrust Super Cup game.
Mackay have been very big supporters of the carnival and the old rivalry between the two towns will continue throughout the weekend.
With last year’s winners Walkerton Wanders are looking to go back to back this year, but they will come up against some very good competition.
Organisers have already fielded calls for the carnival and are hopeful to have Chinchilla travelling north for the first time as well as sides from the Emerald district, Gladstone, the North Burnett and Mackay.
The NRL Development Team will again hold a clinic for 6-12 year olds on the Saturday morning with former NRL player Rhys Wesser assisting at that event before moving to Browne Park for the conclusion of the carnival.
If anyone has any questions they can contact Carnival Coordinator Michael Fletcher on 0428 113 148 or email bridget2707@westnet.com.au.
