The Eastern Cobras defeated West End Bulldogs 50-22 in the Ipswich Rugby League Boettcher Realty Colts Cup on Sunday at Daniel's Park.

The Cobras kicked-off and forced a West End error in the first set.

Barely a minute into the game Talhia Maukenni scored to give the Cobras a 4-nil lead capitalising on West End's early error.

After conceding early, West End gained some much needed possession and territory as they camped in the Cobras' 20-metre zone for set-after-set.

The heavy possession finally paid-off for West End when Ryan Fraser scored for the Bulldogs to level the scores at 4-all.

After West End's first try all momentum was with the Cobras, they continually made huge metres in almost every set.

In the next seven minutes Easts looked to be taking control of the match when tries to Bronson Baker and Daniel Wes Pes gave the Cobras a 16-4 lead.

Just five minutes before halftime West End broke the Cobras' defensive line creating space for Jahi Taipairi Groom to score for the Bulldogs and reduce the margin to six-points.

But just as it looked like the Bulldogs would go to halftime trailing by just a converted try, Ambrose Fenn scored for the Cobras to extend the margin to 12-points at halftime with the Cobras leading 22-10.

West End came out firing after halftime and Zane Taylor scored less than two minutes into the second-half to get the Bulldogs back within a converted try.

The game started to turn into a real battle with a lot of entertaining play as Easts and West End exchanged tries in the 45th and 48th minutes as Atama Kahui scored for the Cobras and Beau Broom scored for West End as the margin was cut down to four points with the Cobras leading 26-22.

From that point on, although West End still looked good in attack, they wouldn't score another try as the Cobras began to run away with the result.

Three quick tries gave the Cobras a 44-22 lead with less than 10-minutes of the game remaining.

Just before the fulltime siren sounded, Easts were awarded a penalty and Samuel Dixon made the most of the opportunity, scoring a stunning try after the fulltime siren to give the Cobras under 19s a 50-22 win over West End under 19s.

In round five of the Ipswich Rugby League Mayor Paul Pisasale A-Grade Cup Brothers defeated Goodna 40-10, Norths defeated West End 36-4 and Swifts defeated Fassifern 32-30.
