He’s played for four NRL clubs, the Maroons, in Britain with HK Rovers and for Townsville in the Intrust Super Cup but former PNG Kumuls skipper Neville Costigan is certain where the best fans are found.
"I love my PNG people, they are the best fans in the word," said Costigan who played six Tests for the Kumuls including the 2013 World Cup.
Forward Costigan was part of the inaugural 2015 Townsville and Districts Mendi Blackhawks Intrust Super Cup squad, but decided to hang up his boots in May this year after succumbing to a chronic knee injury.
“I had five operations on my left knee.”
Asked his thoughts on the current Kumuls, he said: "They have a very good team with David Mead as a leader they will go a long way.”
Costigan played the 2014 season for Hull Kingston Rovers in the UK but cut short his contract to return to Australia to be closer to his younger brother Johnny who he revealed last year had Down syndrome.
