Earlier this year, the Queensland Rugby League’s Central Division Rugby League partnered with RizeUp in an effort to help tackle domestic violence.
This has seen all players in the Central Division play a pivotal role in standing in support against domestic violence.
RizeUp is an independent charity that provides practical assistance to families affected by domestic violence. Central Division want those involved in rugby league to work together to help educate, empower and end domestic violence.
Over this coming weekend of August 13-14, they will be collecting homeware donations at various locations throughout Central Division.
RizeUp needs:
- Laundry items (pegs, laundry detergent, washing baskets etc)
- Pantry items (packaged and tin food like pasta, sauces, tea, coffee, noodles etc)
- Bathroom products (toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, deodorant, shampoo, conditioner etc)
- Linen items (sheets, pillow cases, duvets, towel sets etc)
These essential items will be collected and then donated to families in need when being re-homed due to domestic and family violence.
The main venues for homeware donations will be Rockhampton’s Browne Park, Salter Oval in Bundaberg and Sunshine Coast Stadium on the Sunshine Coast.

If people outside these areas wish to make donations, contact Central Division Welfare and Education Manager Trish Drummond on t.drummond@qrl.com.au.
This Sunday (August 14) will also see Intrust Super Cup clubs the Sunshine Coast Falcons and CQ Capras play in the inaugural RizeUp Round on Sunday at Sunshine Coast Stadium.
Gates open 10am with the main game starting at 1.40pm.
Sunshine Coast Stadium is located at Sportsman Parade, Bokarina.
This is your chance to support your community and show your support to RizeUp against domestic violence.
Local leagues within Central Division have been supporting RizeUp throughout the season with Bundaberg Rugby League being joined by Central Highlands in hosting a special Domestic Violence Awareness and Prevention Round to highlight the issue.
