The Queensland Rugby League Central Division have announced the venues for its major representative carnivals for the 2017 and 2018 seasons.

The 47th Battalion Trophy has been running continuously for over 50 years and the event has grown in recent years to include eight Open Men’s teams and five Women’s teams.

In 2017, the Sunshine Coast Falcons will look to defend their titles in both the Men’s and Women’s Divisions in Rockhampton.

Significantly, the event will coincide with the Centenary celebrations for the Rockhampton Rugby League.

In 2018, the Toowoomba Rugby League will have similar cause for celebration as they acknowledge 100 years of competition. The 2018 47th Battalion will be hosted in Toowoomba.

This year was the first year of the Central Division Junior Carnival. It was hosted by Kingaroy Rugby League Football Club and was a great success thanks to the army of volunteers at the South Burnett club.

In 2017, the junior focus will centre on Gladstone as the Gladstone Rugby League plays host.

The Junior Division Carnival also presents an opportunity for Outback communities to host a major event.

In 2018, this event will be hosted by the Western Downs Junior Rugby League in Chinchilla.

All carnival venues are selected following a tender process completed by the Central Division.

The Division thanks all clubs/leagues for submitting applications.

Venues for 2019 will be considered during next year.
