The annual Under 11 and under 12 East Maitland Touring Development Squad has arrived back in Ipswich after an exciting and enjoyable experience.
The development squads travelled by bus to East Maitland (40 minutes north west of Newcastle) after the Easter long weekend, where they would go on to play six games in total over a week-long tour.
On their first full day on tour, the kids were lucky enough to visit McDonald Jones Stadium and got to watch the Newcastle Knights NRL squad train.
All the players and staff were extremely excited, especially when some of the players came over to sign shirts, hats and other items.
After the Knights tour, the squads went on an ANZAC walk to stretch the legs before their game that night (all results included below).
The players also visited Rugby League Central, getting a tour of the RLC Museum and even getting to see the Provan-Summons Trophy (NRL Premiership trophy) in addition to a tour of Allianz Stadium.
All were experiences these children will remember for years to come.
Rugby League Ipswich would like to thank the East Maitland Invitational Squads, East Maitland Griffins JRLFC and Nelson’s Bay for six fantastic games and for being very hospitable.
The kids (and staff) enjoyed their time and loved the experience.
