X-rays back on Gagai's finger

Dane Gagai has received results from an x-ray on the finger he injured in the Queensland Maroons' final training run today.

The 27-year-old has been cleared of a fracture and is expected to play in Wednesday's Holden State of Origin series opener.

Gagai injured a finger early in the closed session at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

After receiving treatment from a specialist who was at the ground, he returned to complete the session.

As a precaution he was taken for x-rays, though coach Kevin Walters said the lionhearted flyer was determined to take his place.

Tomorrow's final preparations will see assistant coach Josh Hannay front a press conference at 10.30am and the team then depart for a team walk around Melbourne.

Kick-off in State of Origin Game I will be 8pm, preceded by the Under 18 State of Origin contest at 5.15pm.
