Weekend of SEQ Women's and girls grand finals

Grand finals for SEQ Women's and Girls competitions will take place this weekend at two separate venues.

Cbus Super Stadium will host the SEQ Women's Division 1 grand final on Saturday, August 11 from 12.30pm, while the Senior Division 2 and Division 3, along with the Under 14,Under 16 and Under 18 finals will take place at Emerson Park on Sunday, August 12.

In Division 1, the three-time defending champions the Burleigh Bears will take on West Brisbane Panthers, with the Panthers defeating Brothers Ipswich 16-12 in the preliminary final.

The will be broadcast live of Fox Sports on Channel 502.

The Panthers have come from fourth and won consecutive elimination finals to qualify for the historic final at Cbus Super Stadium.

The Bears, meanwhile, have been the competition's benchmark for the past four years. They are the 2018 minor premiers and have not tasted defeat since Round 6, more than three months ago.

Burleigh will start favourites, but the Panthers have been the giant killers of the finals series and will relish being the underdogs on the biggest day of the year.

On Sunday, the Division 2 grand final between Souths and Southport will headline a huge day at Emerson Park, where five women's and girls' finals will be contested.

Souths, who finished second on the ladder, qualified for the grand final with a 16-14 win over minor premiers the Murri Taipans in the first week of the finals, while the Southport Tigers eliminated Inala in Week 1 and knocked out the Taipans 16-10 last weekend.

That game will kick-off at 3pm and will follow the Division 3 final which starts at 1.30pm, where minor premiers Mt Gravatt will take on Flagstone, who last week defeated Ormeau to qualify for the final.

Earlier in the day, the Under 18 final features Pine Central taking on Brothers St Brendan's at 12.30pm, Redbank take on Waterford in the Under 16 final at 11.30am and Beenleigh Black face Waterford Gold at 10.30am in the Under 14 decider.
