Footy returns in South East Queensland

The waiting for rugby league in the South East Queensland Region is almost over with major competitions set to kick-off starting from this weekend.

First out of the blocks will be the Rugby League Ipswich A Grade competition which gets started this Saturday and Sunday.

West End Bulldogs take on Brothers Ipswich in the season opener on Saturday evening at 5pm, while the defending champions, the Fassifern Bombers, will begin their title defence on Sunday when they take on the Goodna & Districts Eagles.

All six teams will be in action that day with defending premiers the Seagulls taking on the Magpies in the season opener at 1.30pm at Noffke Farm Park.

On the Gold Coast, their QTOP A Grade competition also gets underway next weekend.

Runaway Bay snapped a 13-year premiership drought when they claimed victory in last year’s decider and will open their season at home against the Ormeau Shearers on Sunday March 17.
