I am delighted to share this report following a successful 2019 season.
Our relationship with the Australian Rugby League Commission has progressed extremely well, with their financial support enhancing the QRL’s ability to provide wider and better services to our stakeholders.
We would like to acknowledge the leadership of Peter Beattie during his time as Chairman of the ARLC; and wish his successor, Peter V’Landys, a successful and progressive tenure.
Our gratitude extends to NRL Chief Executive Officer, Todd Greenberg, and his management team for their support and encouragement throughout the year.
QRL Year in Review - 2019
Our much-loved Queensland team enjoyed a magnificent start to the 2019 Holden State of Origin series with a courageous Game I victory before New South Wales responded in Perth.
Utilising the home ground advantage in the decider, the Blues scored a late try against the run of play to snatch the series, but our gallant Maroons lost no admirers in defeat.
We thank all of the players for their contribution this year and we look forward to the 2020 series under the guidance of Kevin Walters and his staff.
Like our men’s team, the Harvey Norman Queensland Maroons put everything into their Origin match against NSW.
It was a privilege to watch the tenacity of our leading female athletes who will enjoy the opportunity to showcase their skills in front of our home fans in 2020.
