BMD Premiership Round 3 wrap: Young guns on fire

Norths Devils had an early lead against Wynnum Manly Seagulls in their Round 2 BMD Premiership clash, but the Seagulls switched into gear and couldn't be stopped.

Seagulls centre Julia Robinson said it was the side's young guns Destiny Mino-Sinapati, Sienna Lofipo, Emma Barnes and Alyssa McCarthy who really stood up.

"It’s good to finally get the win," the Harvey Norman Queensland Maroons star said.

"Our young guns were so good... I'm very impressed, they’re going to be something else. They all played amazing. They’re stepping up. I know a few a of them debuted last week and they definitely stepped up again this week."

Robinson said the side went into the game knowing the Devils would be tough to beat, but focused on executing to get the job done.

"Norths, we knew coming into this week, they were going to be a great team because they’ve got fantastic players. We knew it was going to be a battle," Robinson said.

"We knew we weren’t executing the last two games so that was our goal this game and we did that so very happy.

"We just have to be more confident in ourselves. We know we can do it. We just have to execute and fix our little mistakes. We know we’re a good team, we know what we have to do."

Devils centre Shenae Ciesiolka said it was a tough outing and frustrating to finish with a loss, noting mistakes was what let her side down in Round 3.

Elsewhere, Nikayla Sines and Tegan Spicer scored doubles for Brisbane Tigers to help their side to their first win of season 2023.

Burleigh Bears winger Caitlyn Ah Fook was on fire, scoring a hat-trick in the Bears' win over Mackay Cutters.

Souths Logan Magpies scored 10 tries to the Central Queensland Capras' one to claim the two points in Round 3.
