Queensland Wheelchair Rugby League Squad Named for 2025 State Challenge

Queensland Rugby League has named its initial squad for the 2025 State Challenge, with ten players selected to represent the Construction Sciences Queensland Wheelchair Rugby League team. The match will take place on Sunday, July 13 at the Whitlam Centre in Liverpool, Sydney.

The players named in this extended squad will be working to earn a place in the final eight-player team, which will be confirmed closer to the event. Importantly, players not included in this initial group remain eligible for selection, with coaches continuing to monitor performances across QWRL programs and local competitions in the coming months.

Preparations begin with a training camp on the Sunshine Coast from May 23 to 25. Proudly supported by Sunshine Coast Council, the camp will bring players and staff together to begin building combinations and team cohesion ahead of the interstate clash.

Head Coach Cameron Sullivan will lead the team following Jack Brown’s move back to England and to lead consultant role, with support from Assistant Coach Jeff Wright and Team Manager Jade Brown. A strong performance team is also in place, including Javery Gonzales, Ryan Charles, Adam Schefe, and Kyle Panebianco.

The State Challenge is a key fixture on the wheelchair rugby league calendar, offering players the opportunity to compete at a high level while continuing to grow the sport across Queensland and beyond.
