The competition leaders were forced to settle for a share of the points after Mackay produced a clinical opening to the game, before crossing over twice more after the break. Burleigh trailed 6-0 at the half, however, found their rhythm in the form of four unanswered second-half tries to turn the contest on its head.
Abigayle Sekitoga was the saviour of the moment, scoring twice in the space of four minutes to spark the Bears miraculous comeback, while the Cutters’ Zoe Cook was flawless from the tee, landing all three conversion attempts for Mackay.
Burleigh gained a single, yet crucial, competition point which allowed them to remain atop the ladder.

Ipswich continued their unbeaten home record with a hard-earned victory over the Capras to climb into the top four.
Tenaya Yorston finished with a double, while Chantae Wilson-Jenkins, Rilee Jorgensen and Jhana Magele also crossed in a well-rounded attacking display.
The Jets have now won three of their five matches and will be looking forward to challenging the table-topping Bears this weekend.

The Tigers made it five wins from their opening six games, overcoming a determined Souths Logan outfit to remain hot on Burleigh's heels.
Trailing 16-14 at half-time, Brisbane exploded after the break, consistently finding the try line every few minutes to battle back the Magpies and claim victory.
Souths Logan had their opportunities despite two sin bins, but the Tigers' second-half composure proved the difference as they extended their winning streak to five matches.

The Western Clydesdales edged out Northern Pride in the game of the round, snatching a dramatic one-point victory in a 53-point thriller.
Locked at 26-all late in the contest, Reeghyn Beardmore calmly slotted the match-winning field goal with just one minute remaining to seal the result. Both sides scored five tries, while also converting three of the five possible attempts.
The win snapped the Clydesdales' three-game losing streak and keeps them firmly in the finals race.
