Standout player

Sam Scarlett, a new addition to the Wynnum Manly squad in 2019, was a stand-out performer whenever he took to the field. The 25-year-old halfback topped the competition in try assists with 33 and line break assists with 25. His stellar form was rewarded with XXXX Queensland Residents selection and he was named man of the match following Queensland's 42-22 win over New South Wales.

Key factor to season result

Consistent team work

Wynnum Manly, coached by Adam Brideson and skippered by gun Cronin, were superb throughout the 2019 Intrust Super Cup season. The entire squad - right across the park - were consistently excellent and simply gelled, thanks in part to halfback Scarlett. This was recognised when the team had the most representatives in the XXXX Queensland Residents with Scarlett, Cronin, Hoeter, Palasia and Kennar all donning maroon. Wynnum Manly's efforts throughout the year saw them make the grand final, after finishing 12th in 2018, but fall to Burleigh Bears.

Looking ahead to 2020

Wynnum Manly, having gone so close to taking the competition out in 2019, will be hungry for another crack at taking out the competition in 2020. The club made the grand final in the Auswide Bank Mal Meninga Cup, Hastings Deering Colts, In Safe Hands BRL A-Grade and Intrust Super Cup, so there is plenty of depth; plenty of talent to pick from. Players will be pushed to perform to maintain their position in the team.
