Maroons All Stars lead E-sports Challenge

Updated Saturday 1:00pm - With respect to Wynnum Manly Seagulls following the tragic passing of Mitchell Cronin, Monday night's E-Sports Challenge match versus Souths Logan Magpies will not go ahead. The match will be considered a draw.

The Maroons All Stars sit on top of the Intrust Super Cup E-sports Challenge ladder after two rounds of competition.

Kane the cane toad and Jharal Yow Yeh both proved very strong for the All Stars during the first two rounds.

The E-sports Challenge sees players from nine Cup teams and a Maroons legend  going head-to-head each week to secure supreme gaming bragging rights.

The players, from the comfort of their own homes, play the Rugby League Live 4 PlayStation game for their respective teams over two seven-minute halves, with commentator extraordinaire Peter Psaltis on hand to call the games.

Round 2 saw some very close encounters.

Townsville Blackhawks representative Kieran Quabba beat Easts Tigers' Michael Purcell 18-12; and Sunshine Coast Falcons young gun Jack Wright beat Tweed Seagulls' Luke Jurd 18-10.

Burleigh Bears' Sami Sauiluma beat Souths Logan Magpies' Guy Hamilton endured a tight tussle, with Sauiluma victorious 14-12.

The clash between Wynnum Manly Seagulls' Kalolo Saitaua and Mackay Cutters'  Dane Francis was the highest scoring in Round 2, with Saitaua finishing on top 32-28.

All Stars representative Yow Yeh was strong against Ipswich Jets' Shar Walden, who was in fine form in Round 1 for the Jets; Yow Yeh secured a 30-6 victory for the All Stars and their spot on the top of the ladder.

Round 3 - the XXXX Rivalry Round - kicks off on Sunday night.

Fans will be able to watch on at QRL.com.au and the Intrust Super Cup Facebook page.

Burleigh's Sauiluma, currently undefeated, will take on Tweed's Jurd; and Mark Bishop will step in for Ipswich against Easts' Purcell, who will be looking for redemption after a Round 2 loss.

Townsville's Sione Lousi will play Mackay's Ata Hingano; and Saitaua will return for Wynnum against a returning Hamilton for Souths.

Wright, for Sunshine Coast, will take on new All Stars representative Brent Tate.
