Round 10 Team of the Week: 'Super duper Lachie Cooper'

Intrust Super Cup Round 10 had it all - doubles, hat-tricks, length-of-the-field tries, big hits, epic finishes and a touching tribute to one of the best players to have played Cup in Mitch Cronin. 

Souths Logan Magpies half Lachlan Cooper was superb during the Mitch Cronin Memorial Cup match against Wynnum Manly Seagulls. Cooper helped his side deliver Wynnum Manly their first loss of the season, which earned him the Hastings Deering player of the match nod and skipper honours for the Round 10 Team of the Week. 

Each round, Queensland Rugby League recognises the 17 best performers and name the Intrust Super Cup Team of the Week. These team selections are based not only on statistical data, but also take on board live and broadcast viewings of the games, with the standout performer of the week named captain. 

Round 10 Team of the Week

1. Trai Fuller - Redcliffe Dolphins

The Dolphins flyer was electric during his side's win over Burleigh Bears at Moreton Daily Stadium. Fuller scored one try, clocked a huge 222 run metres - the most for his team, had two line breaks, one line break assist, one try assist and seven tackle breaks, making him instrumental in the win. 

2. Michael Carroll - Townsville Blackhawks

The Blackhawks winger scored a double during his side's huge win over Central Queensland Capras in Round 10. Carroll also clocked 117 run metres, including 42 post-contact, had two line breaks and four tackle breaks. Blackhawks coach Aaron Payne said "I thought we played really well... a lot of what we were trying to do we executed, and I thought as a whole we're making some real steps forward as a group and building some confidence". 

3. Treymain Spry - Tweed Seagulls

The Gold Coast Titans-contracted talent was superb in attack for Tweed during their 24-16 win over Mackay Cutters in Round 10. Spry scored one try, clocked 170 run metres, including 34 post-contact, had two line breaks and five tackle breaks.

4. Bernard Gregorius - Norths Devils

It has been two years since Gregorius arrived at Bishop Park from French club Lezignan; he suffered a serious knee injury during his first week of training at club, and with COVID-19 cancelling the competition in 2020, he finally got to debut and he made the most of it. The centre scored one try, clocked 140 run metres, had two line breaks, one line break assist, one try assist and six tackle breaks. He also made seven tackles and did not miss any. 

5. Corey Oates - Souths Logan Magpies

Oates was on fire for the Magpies in Round 10, scoring two tries - one the match-winning try at full-time against a previously undefeated Wynnum Manly side. Oates also clocked 208 run metres, had two line breaks and eight tackle breaks. Norths Devils speedster Tony Tumusa was also impressive with two tries, four line breaks and 10 tackle breaks.

6. Will Brimson - Tweed Seagulls

The Seagulls playmaker, a consistent high performer for the side, scored two tries, had two line breaks, three tackle breaks and made 20 tackles during their win over Mackay Cutters in Round 10. 

7. Lachlan Cooper - Souths Logan Magpies (C)

Cooper was simply sensational for the Magpies during the Mitch Cronin Memorial Cup match, earning himself the title of Hastings Deering player of the match for Round 10 and skipper for the Round 10 Team of the Week. The halfback scored two tries, had two line breaks, one try assist and six tackle breaks.

8. Jack Svendsen - Brisbane Tigers

The Tigers prop, during his 53 minutes on the field, clocked 152 run metres, including 66 post-contact, had one tackle break and made 27 tackles with a 93.1 per cent tackle efficiency. Burleigh Bears prop Luke Page was also impressive during his 52 minutes on the field with 147 run metres, including 59 post-contact, and 21 tackles.

9. Jayden Hodges - Northern Pride 

Hodges had a huge impact for his side during their close 24-22 win over Ipswich Jets. Hodges scored two tries, had two line breaks, four tackle breaks and a 91.8 per cent tackle efficiency, making the most tackles for his side with 45.

10. Ross Bella - Mackay Cutters

The Cutters captain, despite being part of a losing side in Round 10, led from the front. Bella, during his 58 minutes on the field, scored one try, clocked 123 run metres, had one line break and two tackle breaks, and made 19 tackles.

11. Jesse Dee - Mackay Cutters

The Cutters hard man was excellent for the Cutters in Round 10. Dee scored one try, clocked 149 run metres, including 49 post-contact, had one line break, two tackle breaks and made 27 tackles. Wynnum Manly second rower Matiu Love-Henry was also strong with one try, 128 run metres, one line break, eight tackle breaks and 25 tackles. 

12. Patrick Kaufusi - Townsville Blackhawks

The Blackhawks second rower scored a hat-trick against the Capras, well and truly contributing to the big win. Kaufusi also clocked 96 run metres, had two line breaks, nine tackle breaks and made 19 tackles. 

13. Corey Jensen - Townsville Blackhawks

The North Queensland Cowboys-contracted lock was a standout for the Blackhawks in Round 10. Jensen was solid in attack and defence against the Capras. During his 61 minutes on the field, Jensen scored two tries, made the most tackles for his side with 22, had the most run metres with a huge 237, had the most line breaks with three and made nine tackle breaks. 

14. Sam Burns - Sunshine Coast Falcons

Burns, during his 65 minutes on the field, clocked 144 run metres, including 48 post-contact, had one tackle break and 97.4 per cent tackle efficiency, making 38 tackles.

15. Shane Pumipi - Redcliffe Dolphins

The Dolphins hooker was strong in attack and defence during his side's win over the Bears in Round 10. Pumipi had one line break assist, one try assist and had a 95.6 per cent tackle efficiency, making a huge 43 tackles - the most for the Dolphins.

16. Jayden Berrell - Wynnum Manly Seagulls

The Wynnum Manly rake, a consistent performer in the competition, scored one try, clocked 100 run metres, had one line break, one line break assist, one try assist, six tackle breaks and made 36 tackles with a 92.3 per cent tackle efficiency during his side's loss to the Magpies.

17. Wyatt Reynolds - Sunshine Coast Falcons

Reynolds, on debut for the Falcons, made a huge impact during his short 29 minutes on the field. He scored two tries, clocked 67 run metres, had two line breaks, four tackle breaks and he made 12 tackles.
